Team Aurora has a new blog post!

We hope you all enjoyed your day off in the snow! We heard some great stories this morning in CPR.

We want to give you a quick overview of the week. Look for an email very soon about Ottawa. The museums are getting settled now.

In LA/Social Studies, we are deep into our information writing unit using teen activists as our focus topic. Today we learned to outline with boxes and bullets. Tomorrow, we flash draft.

Later this week, we apply our new note taking and organizing skill to our National History Day topics.

Tuesday, group L is expected to show up with boxes and bullets compete (at least at the big idea, main points level) ready to flash draft. The R group has one period in the morning to finish and how up in the afternoon with boxed and bullets complete and ready to flash draft.

The marking period is quickly wrapping up. Our National History Day projects will be our last work of the trimester. Even though the trimester officially ends on February 21st, the NHD projects will be due on March 10. We will complete our nonfiction writing post assessment on Friday, March 6. Report cards mail home on Friday, March 13.

Word study is due every Thursday!

Math this week has been focused around pulling together all we know about operations with fractions. Tuesday students will take a check in to help form small groups to clear up any misconceptions, Wednesday students will receive their study guides and Friday students will take the end of unit "Let's Be Rational" assessment. Students have been building their toolboxes and have focused a lot on making sure to have more than one way of solving a problem.

In science, we are exploring the idea of mass and acceleration. This is in preparation for their Bend 1 assessment that will now be happening next week. We are so grateful for Mr. Lee who is building a pendulum to make our lab based assessment successful. Students will receive their study guides on Friday and will be expected to bring them back to school on Monday, along with their materials they will be using for the lab. This information will be discussed on Thursday.

2-4-2 and menus are due 2/21/20! This is the last day of the trimester, so it is important that students turn their work in at this time.
If you already know you and your family are leaving for break early, please let Ms. Lamb and Ms. Roberge know so that they can ensure that they get all materials in before you head out. This will make sure it doesn't impact their report card grades.

Have a great week!!
